Mission Statement
The mission of the media center is to cultivate life-long readers and 21st-century learners by providing access to a wide variety of resources and targeted instruction that support the school’s curriculum and help students become effective users of ideas and information. The media center program aims to support the mission and vision of both SPS and SES by providing a nurturing environment in which students can be successful readers and learners, encouraging student performance at the highest level.

Program Goals and Objectives
Students will become independent users of the media center.
Students will select appropriate materials for academic purposes and for enjoyment.
Students will access information using a variety of print and electronic resources.
Students will use information and ideas in effective, responsible, and creative ways.
Students will develop effective research skills.
Students will become life-long readers.

Monday through Friday 7:30am-3:00pm

Checking Out Materials
Students, teachers, and parents may check out materials any time the media center is open. First grade students may check out one book at a time, and second through fourth grade students may check out two books at a time. More items are allowed with a teacher’s permission. All books can be checked out for two weeks with the option to renew.

Overdue Materials
Every quarter, Ms. Scaglione will send out notices of overdue materials. If you have an item that is more than 4 weeks overdue, you must return it before you may check out any more items.

Lost or Damaged Materials
If you have lost or damaged an item that belongs to the media center, you will receive a notice with the cost of the item to be replaced. Please see Ms. Scaglione or Ms. Williams for more information.
